Our Mission is to build a strong community through Badminton. Northeast Birdies is dedicated to growing the sport of badminton through tournaments and activities that designed to inspire fun, fitness, and connection. Our goal is to encourage healthy living and sportsmanship while creating a space where players of all levels can enjoy and thrive. By building a strong badminton community, we aim to bring the sport to more people and foster a lifelong passion for the game

About Us

Northeast Birdies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of badminton through exciting, community centered tournaments across Massachusetts and the Northeast region. With hundreds of passionate players and numerous successful events, we’ve built a vibrant platform that unites athletes of all ages through the love of the game. More than just a tournament organizer, we create experiences that foster friendship, growth, and competitive spirit in a welcoming environment.

2026 NEB Tournament

This Tournament brought together a vibrant badminton community, with over 200 passionate players representing more than 35 clubs from across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. The event featured competitive divisions for both juniors and adults, including singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. With the incredible support of 20+ dedicated parent and player volunteers, along with backing from 5+ generous sponsors representing local and national brands, Northeast Birdies continues to grow as a premier regional badminton event.

Meet the Founder

My name is Sourish Yanamandra

Sourish Yanamandra is the founder of Northeast Birdies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the sport of badminton throughout Massachusetts and the Northeast.

After discovering badminton just a few years ago, Sourish quickly developed a passion for the sport and recognized the importance of building a stronger local badminton community. That passion inspired him to create Northeast Birdies, with the goal of providing players of all ages and skill levels opportunities to compete, connect, and develop through high quality tournaments and community events.

Since its founding, Northeast Birdies has brought together hundreds of players from across the Northeast, creating an environment that promotes sportsmanship, friendship, and a lifelong love for badminton. Sourish continues to work alongside dedicated volunteers, coaches, families, and supporters to expand the sport and make badminton more accessible to future generations.
